The Genealogical Proof Standard (GPS) is the industry benchmark for genealogical research quality. Established by the Board for Certification of Genealogists, it ensures that conclusions are based on thorough research, complete citations, and sound analysis. We analyze each piece of evidence carefully, considering its origin, context, and reliability. Evidence is correlated to identify agreements and conflicts.
When evidence conflicts, we resolve contradictions through sound reasoning and additional research. No conflicts are ignored or glossed over.
